Pavé setting software that works on any surface

Brush over a band, a dome or a hand-sculpted face and Diatech Make fills it with melee in sizes you can buy. Then add prongs, beads or micro-pavé, cut the seats, and check that nothing collides.

Paint where the stones go

Most CAD programs ask you to lay out pavé on a flat grid and wrap it onto the piece. Here you paint the area directly on the 3D model. Use a brush, click once with the magic wand (and adjust how far it spreads), or draw a path. Painting works from any angle and follows folds, wraps and domes. You can also mark areas that must stay bare metal.

Packing that looks set by hand

  • Hexagonal, square, brick, row, concentric or scattered layouts.
  • Optional slope compensation so coverage stays even where the surface curves away.
  • Edge fill that finishes the border with the largest standard melee that still fits, stepping down to a smallest size you set. Sizes that aren't stocked get flagged.
  • Pear, marquise, emerald and heart melee in tight rows, each stone turned the same way.
  • A handle that shows where the leftover space ends up, so you can drag it somewhere hidden.

Change the stone diameter, the gap or the layout afterwards and the field repacks. Nothing needs to be placed again by hand.

On AI sculpts and 3D scans too

Generated sculpts and scans are hard to set because the mesh is rarely clean. Diatech Make can stud them anyway, even where the mesh has holes. If you need to, clean the model up first with the mesh tools, then paint. More on AI jewelry design.

Settings for every stone

  • Shared-prong pavé with V-cut or scallop bright cutting between stones.
  • Bead and grain setting with round, oval or capsule beads.
  • Micro-pavé as one object: a pad, drilled seats and shared beads for the whole field.
  • Channel settings with walls gripping a row of stones.
  • Halos that follow the center stone's true outline, including trillions, pears and marquise cuts, plus double and hidden halos.
  • Heads, baskets and bezels for center stones, with prongs placed evenly, at set angles or on a fancy cut's corners.

Seats and cutters

Pull a drill, seat, bearing, countersink or V-edge cutter off any stone, or cut a whole row at once. Add azure windows under every stone, run a channel groove through a row (it tapers with graduated stones), or split the metal between neighbors into micro-prongs.

Know what you're setting

The stone list shows cut, size, count and total carats, and can be priced from your Studio price book. Overlap warnings and a fit check against the finished metal catch problems before the piece reaches the setter.

Try painting a pavé field

Diatech Make is free to try. Open the editor, load an example ring, and paint over the shoulders. See also ring design and the full feature list.
