Jewelry CAD for 3D printing and casting
Design a piece, check it will survive casting, and export an STL or 3MF for your resin or wax printer and your caster. The weights and stone counts on the tech sheet come from the same model you send.
Export formats
| Format | Use it for |
|---|---|
| STL | Resin and wax 3D printers, and most print-prep software |
| 3MF | 3D printing, with units stored in the file |
| GLB | Web viewers, AR and product pages |
| OBJ | Rendering and sculpting programs |
Mesh exports come in draft, standard and high quality. You can export the whole piece or a single part, and a size run gives you one file per finger size in one go.
Catch problems before you print
- Minimum wall thickness. Diatech Make finds the thinnest wall and shows where it is. Set a minimum and it warns you before you export a wall that won't cast.
- Stone fit. A fit check measures placed stones against the finished metal and against each other.
- Real size. Imported meshes that were never given a physical size get flagged on the tech sheet, so a model doesn't go out at the wrong scale.
- Design rules. Write your own checks, such as "the band is at least 1.5 mm thick", and the design refuses to build when one fails.
Lighter pieces, less metal
Hollow any solid to a wall thickness you choose, closed or open at the back, to cut metal weight on large pendants and signet rings. Weight is reported for yellow, white and rose gold, platinum, palladium, silver and more, so you can compare alloys before you cast.
A tech sheet for the bench
The tech sheet shows metal weight, the stone list with sizes, counts and carat weights, a gem map and dimensioned views. You can set a house density per metal and add notes for that sheet only. Metal can be priced at the day's spot rate and stones from your own Studio price book.
Making a sculpt printable
Models from AI generators and scanners are often not watertight. Separate, smooth, simplify and symmetrize them, close off a scooped back, and hollow them before export. See AI jewelry design and setting stones on sculpts.
Export your first file
Diatech Make is free to try. Open the editor, pick a template and export an STL. See also ring design and the full feature list.
